Manhattan Beach

This city got its name when two landowners flipped a coin and the winner was from New York City. As a resort and bedroom community the majority of residents are upscale professionals in this city of 33,000. Sepulveda Blvd. separates east and west. Going west toward the ocean, some homes have ocean views and beachfront property. Streets are often lined with trees. On the eastside, there’s a golf course, gated community and middle class homes. But on either side, mansions and mega houses thrive. For every apartment or condo, there are three single family homes. The Manhattan Beach Unified School District serves the area and all schools rank in the 90th percentile and crime is low. The beach is two miles long and swimmers, surfers, volleyball players and sunbathers take advantage of the good weather. Along the Rosecrans corridor restaurants, offices, fitness centers and retail meld. Commuters will travel 22 miles to downtown Los Angeles and four miles to the airport.
